Are you a musician who does not have the opportunity to play with other musicians? This course is for you.

Instructor Chet Williamson, a 40-plus-year veteran of the local music scene, has designed a class that gives both the beginner and the more advanced player a chance to share ideas, establish repertoires, and learn from one another. Whether you play guitar, piano, bass or tuba - whether you listen to jazz, folk, rock, or blues - this offering is open to all those who want to jam together. We will cover the fundamentals of music, learn to improvise, as well as the way and means that musicians communicate. Who know, maybe you will find the guitar player you need for your next band.
Guitar For The Beginner

This course is especially designed for those individuals who love guitar music and would enjoy performing. Class objectives consist of participants mastering the basics of the instrument which include tuning the guitar, learning major, minor and dominant chords, using a variety of strumming patterns and simple finger picking styles, and recognizing by ear common chord progressions. Classes will provide participants with exposure to classical, pop and jazz guitar music. All class participants must provide his/her own guitar, preferably an acoustic or classical.
Learn To Play The Harmonica

Students will learn: how to hold the harmonica, proper breathing, playing single notes and chords, bending notes and blue licks, maintain and care of the instrument, general history of the instrument and its players, and songs in a variety of musical styles, and more … You will learn to play songs from “Revelry,” “Taps”, and “Oh, Suzanna,” to children’s songs, and holiday favorites – plus gospel hymn and blues hits such as “Careless Love,” “Frankie and Johnny’” and “Love Me Tender.”

And, most of all, be prepared to have fun. Students will need a key of “C” major diatonic harmonica, or they may purchase one from Mr. Williamson for $30.
Learn To Play The Harmonica Course II (intermediate To Advanced)

Students will learn: the rudiments of reading music; advanced techniques such as over-blowing and over-drawing; preparing to play professionally; playing in different keys and positions; exploring the chromatic harmonica; getting started with microphones and amplification; maintain, care and tuning of the instrument; more blues styles, licks, and techniques; and more songs in a variety of musical styles and more.

You will learn to play country favorites, pop tunes, and jazz standards – such songs as “Rollin’ and Tumblin” by Muddy Waters, “Minor Swing” by Django Reinhardt, and “Summertime” by George Gershwin.

Most of all, be prepared to have fun. Students will need a key of “C” major diatonic harmonica, or they may purchase one from Mr. Williamson for $30.00.
